Storytelling & Identity
IMAGINATION l was a two-week summer school in Damascus, August 2008 under the theme “Storytelling & Identity” in search for Damascus’ uniqueness and challenging urban growth. Through walks and sketching in the city, and through talks and stories about the city’s present and past, the students recorded particulars, explored ideas and imagined visions for Damascus under the sub-themes: Identity & Values, Damascus from the outside and Thresholds.
28 architecture students participated from Damascus, Syria; Berlin, Germany and Aalborg, Denmark supported by 4 tutors and with more than 20 university lecturers, practicing architects, artists and local organizations sharing their knowledge through walks and talks.
IMAGINATION 1 was held in Beit Baroudi - an old courtyard house close to the old city of Damascus.
